Inside ... again!

Wandered around the house peering through the windows to see what had been delivered and what had been newly installed. Not expecting to get in .. but then an unexpected bonus! The door to the laundry had been left open, so, as someone famous probably once said .. "when an opportunity presents itself, take it!"

So here are some pics of the nearly completed kitchen fit out and some other things.

The fitout is almost complete, kickboards to all cupboards need to be added and the wine rack needs to be fitted; it's going at the top of the fridge recess. The plasterers underestimated the width of the recess, so they will need to return to complete the job. Am sure there will be plenty of other jobs to be done, so not worried just yet. Just one more thing to mention on Wednesday.

One view of the tiles for the wet areas (Ensuite, WC, Powder Room, Laundry and Bathroom), there are more hiding behind these. I didn't realise there would be so many, it's going to take the tiler a while to do the job properly.

The feature tile for the Ensuite, Bathroom and Powder Room. The camera hasn't got the colour right, but it's a hint. The feature tile for the kitchen was in unopened boxes, so I didn't want to touch them.

So, that's my unexpected entry for today.

Tiling

Have our tiling meeting at the house booked for next Wednesday at 7.00 in the morning. Will;

1. Definitely take the camera!
2. Most definitely get the Powder Room door fixed!!

On the Tiles

Well, under them actually.

The roof carpenters came and did their thing, then the plumber and then the electricians tried to undo all the carpenters work. And then, finally, the tiles were deliverd, approximately 4,500 of them.

So, the roof went from looking like this 'bad hair day';

To this, tiles laid but ridge capping needs to be installed and cemented in;

Rayleen and I have a few issues with the tiles over the main bedroom having a lot of chips and contact points showing - making them look second-hand to be honest. But an email to SPH has assured me that representatives from Bristile will inspect the roof closer to completion, replace chipped or cracked tiles, apply what is known as a 'cold glaze' and we will have new tiles that look like new!

Colours - The Kitchen

I have just finished trawling the Laminex website and have been able to put together the colours we have chosen for our kitchen.

This is the layout of the kitchen, K1 is the island bench, K2 the main bench and K3 the fridge recess / wine rack.

The main cupboard doors are Laminex Burnished Wood, with the grain running vertically.


Pot drawers, the wine rack and the island bench are in Formica Flaxon.


The benchtops are going to be Avonite and in Artica.


The splashback and behind the rangehood is going to be tiled. 100mm by 400mm (laid horizontally) white tile, 500 mm above the benchtop will run a 50mm wide listello tile (sorry, didn't take a picture of it and can't find it on the 'net) across the length of the bench, and about 400mm (or so) from the left wall we are going to run a 5mm wide 'pencil' from benchtop to under the overhead cupboards.

The overhead cupboard doors are going to be aluminium frames with frosted glass.

What would I know?? :)

The final (for now) choice of roof tile is .... (drumroll please) .... 'truffle'

Colours ... from the top!

Part One of many.

Rayleen has rethought the colour scheme for our new home, originally we were going with a graphite coloured tile roof, with charcoal guttering and fascias and a dark, dark brown over light brown render. Now, after a re-think we both decided that maybe we could step away from that colour scheme and try something a little different.

So, it's time to pick the new colour for the roof tiles. On the left we have 'sandalwood' and on the right is 'truffle'. At the moment 'sandalwood' appears to be winning, but that may change ... and I am sure it will.

The actual colours are a couple of shades darker than they appear here, the flash has washed them out a little.
